Abstract

This special issue includes five articles that contain information from one keynote address and four symposium papers presented at the 2010 annual Asia- Pacific Conference on Vision (APCV), which is among the most important meetings for vision scientists in the Asia-Pacific area. It was formerly known as the Asian Conference on Vision. Following the annual meeting held in Matsue, Japan, in 2006, the organizing committee decided to include “Pacific” in its title to better reflect the growing community of researchers attending the conference. In the same year, a consensus was reached that Taiwan was an attractive place for future meetings, and after some effort, APCV 2010 was held in Taipei, Taiwan, an important event for vision scientists in Taiwan. It was a successful meeting with 300 registrations and 192 accepted abstracts. After the meeting, we called for the submission of papers to the Chinese Journal of Psychology by those who presented the three keynote speeches and the six symposiums. In the end, one keynote speech and one set of symposium talks made it to the review process.
