The jnds were obtained by using the three-category constant method along the dimension of volume of cubes. The standard stimuli consisted of the cubes of 8, 15.625, 27, 64, and 125cm3. The standard and variable stimuli for judgments were placed at eye level 2.5 m away. It was found that the Weber fraction decreases rapidly at first and then slowly on the stimulus dimension in terms of volume. This function is in accord with those obtained in simple sense modalities. The relationships among the Weber fractions for one-, two-, and three dimensional cases are discussed.
