雙語使用者的語文間及語文內之重複效應

摘要

在本研究中,中英雙語者對連續呈現的類名和項目進行語意類別判斷的工作。部分的類別項目配對在實驗中不會重複出現,但其他的配對則會以相同的語文(語文內狀況)或不同語文(語文間狀況)重複出現。重複時的間距可能從零至三個中介嘗試。結果發現在不同的間距狀況下都有語文內的幫助效應出現,而語文間的幫助效應則僅在零間距的情況下才出現。這些結果支持 Kirsner, Smoth, Lockhart 和 King(1984)的假設:心理辭彙的刺激活動持效較長,但是概念表徵的刺激則維持時效較短。


Between- And Within-Language Repetition Effects In Bilinguals

Abstract

Chinese-English bilinguals were shown category and item names successively and were required to perform semantic category judgment. Some category-item pairs were never repeated in the experiment(the control condition), but others were re. peated either in the same language(the within-language condition) or in the different languages(the between-language condition). The lag of repetition was varied from zero to three intervening trials. Within-language facilitation effects were demonstrated in different lag conditions, whereas between-language facilitation effects were only found in the lag-0 conditions. The results support the hypothesis of Kirsner, Smith, Lockhart, and King(1984), that lexical activation is relatively persistent, but activation among conceptual representations is very transient.
