國語的拼字法及拼音法和閱讀效率的關係

摘要

實驗一探討國字加注音對於閱讀效率的影響。結果發現,在相同理解程度的條件之下,國字加注音和不加注音的情況相同,而都優於祇有注音的情況。實驗二進一步探討,國字加注音在閱讀效率上所以無異於國字不加注音的情況,是否由於受試者對注音不加理會所致。結果發現,注音加在國字的左邊時,閱讀效率降低。這個結果表示,國字的右邊加注音時,受試者對注音並非不加理會,而是由於大腦的兩半球分別處理國字和注音的資訊,以致於不發生兩者互相干擾的現象。由本研究的實驗加以推測,國字加注音對初學者或包含非「常用字」的讀物有利,而在任何情形下無不利影響。


Reading Efficiencies for Chinese Logography and Phonographic Simulation

Abstract

Experiment 1 investigated the effect of attaching the phonetic alphabet to Chinese words on reading efficiency. When the degrees of comprehension were approximately equal, the phonetic alphabet alone (phonographic simulation) was found to be inferior to both conditions of Chinese words alone and Chinese words accompanied by the phonetic alphabet, while the latter two conditions were equally efficient. In Experiment 2, the condition of the phonetic alphabet on the left of Chinese words was found to be inferior in reading efficiency to the condition of the phonetic alphabet on the right of Chinese words as well as to the condition of Chinese words alone, thus ruling out an explantion based on paying no attention to the phonetic alphabet in the condition of Chinese words accompanied by the phonetic alphabet in Experiment 1. The present results are compatible with the notion of cerebral lateralization and have important implications for how to print Chinese words accompanied by the phonetic alphabet in order to increase reading efficiency.
