Call for Papers––Special Issue on Registered Reports

Recently, preregistration has become important practice in psychological research. Such practice fulfills multiple purposes, including reducing the negative influences of publication bias. Therefore, since 2018, the Chinese Journal of Psychology has been offering a new article type—Registered Reports. Considering that there were few Registered Reports published in the Chinese Journal of Psychology since then, this special issue is announced.

For this special issue, we invite the submission of original research articles, as well as replication articles, from all areas of psychology. The submission will comprise a two-stage submission-and-review process. In the first stage, the author(s) submit a research proposal, including the literature review, research question, hypotheses, detailed methods (including a power analysis for the determination of sample size), and detailed analysis plan to the journal. This research proposal will be peer-reviewed based on theoretical contribution and methodological soundness. If accepted, this will be a research article in principle acceptance. It is expected that, in general, the study will be conducted in adherence to the accepted proposal. In the second stage, the author(s) submit the complete paper to the journal. This final paper will also be peered-reviewed, based on the consistency between the conducted study and the research proposal, and the soundness of discussion.

We welcome the practice of open science, including open materials and open data. If the materials, codes, or data are made publicly available, please list the links in the corresponding methods or results sections.

First-stage submission deadline: November 30, 2023

Second-stage submission deadline: October 31, 2024
